Text-Impact Theatre

Our mission is to focus community attention on the strengths and assets young people need to successfully address pressing social issues. Through thought-provoking performances and interactive workshops we empower our audiences to seek alternative solutions and create new models for resolution.

Formerly operating under the name Teen Theatre, Impact Theatre is a new, non-profit organization created and directed by Bobbi Kidder. It is comprised of teens from many local high schools, as well as eight adult board members, performing together in the roles of students, teachers, siblings, parents, co-workers and friends.

All members bring their treasuries of personal experiences to our group, which are very powerful and often incorporated directly into our performances.
We encourage creativity with "Imagination Celebration," offer tools for young people to thrive with "40 Assets," address the problems of labeling people and discrimination with "Target," and present models of family crises for analysis with "The Galloways." New skits and scenes will be added as we examine relevant issues and expand to reach more of the community.

So look out for us. We are a dynamic presence in the Rogue Valley, and we are ready to make an impact on you.

Much of our performance activity has been transferred to Impact. In the "Teen Theatre" and "Stand Tall" programs we still do consulting and special projects. We do training with groups who want to form troupes. These are typically full or half day workshops, with follow up consulting.

Stand Tall is a program which promotes courage and confidence in girls and young women. One Stand Tall program, Inside/Out, joins actors from inside a lockdown facility with actors in the community. For 8 weeks the troupe meets regularly for an acting/writing/discussion workshop. The "Poem/Theatre" piece created by the group is performed on the last day of class. An example of an Inside/Out project and a description of the process are found in Inside/Out: A Creative process, a booklet produced with funding by the Rogue Valley Youth Correctional Facility and Oregon Arts Council funding.
